Hi There, I'm trying to find information on a Alfred Bowden born abt 1855 Sherbourne Dorset he is found in the 1881 census for 39 Paris Street Exeter st Sidwell living with his Wife Fanny Bowden Formly Burden age 22 born Bideford Devon. and Daughter Fanny E Bowden also known as Amy born 1880 Northam Devon. Age 5 months.

I have been unable to trace any further information on Alfred and Fanny after this time i have found their Daughter Fanny E Bowden living with her grandparents in the 1891 census for Northam Bideford Clift Farm.
I have not been able to find any death records to suggest her parents died before the 1891 Census and that is why i can't find them.
I also have found a Amy Bowden age 20 Born Northam Devon in the 1901 Census for Chelsea London living with Joespth Chitty and a Emily Chitty. I believe this is indeed Fanny E Bowden as she was known to many as Amy and the birth dates and Birthplace Match.

If anyone could assist me with finding Alfred and Fanny Bowden that would be more than appreciated.

Was Fanny E Bowden really Fanny A Bowden

The only birth reg for Fanny Bowden I can find abt the correct year is

her nickname of "Amy" would fit more???????

Yep thats the one!
It's just on the census records her name sometimes is recorded as Fanny E Bowden!
Gillard, Bowden,Burden,Lock,Rowe,Sartn,Chitty.

finding your man on any cencus other than 1881 is proving difficult.i have managed to find him i think in 1861 pardon me for going backwards but there is a method in my madness  :)
sometimes it helps to start at the beginning and work your way forward.places of birth often change through the cencuses.

maria 31yrs wife born sherbourne dorset
mary 12yrs daughter silkworker
elizabeth 8yrs daughter
maria 6yrs daughter
alfred 4yrs son
emma 1yr daughter
