Hi Luc

I had another look at your post with  '? Barracks' and it dawned on me that it could be Dudhope Castle, see the link below, which states the Castle was used as a military barracks from 1796 - 1879.

Had another look at the cert. and you're definitely correct, it is Dudhope Barracks. As you can tell, I'm not that great at reading certificates but I try!  :P

Fabulous!

I wonder if  - Thomas appears in any of the 1861, 1871 or 1881 census these would  maybe show if it was Dudhope castle, the 1881 inparticular would show if he and Jane had more children - maybe ?

I would not worry I am very grateful for the very important information you posted for me - It has helped my tremendously!

I am sure if I had seen the certificate myself I would not have got even a fraction -it all depends of the registrar's  clarity !!
