Chellin

Thanks for that - I knew about the Joseph & Aaron Mills families. My 3 x gt grandfather was born about 1816, don't know where, father Thomas. (See my earlier post). I am chasing up Mills families to see if there is any connection. There are a lot of travelling/gypsy Mills about all over the country, so it's quite difficult.

I have also heard that the Mills sometimes took the name of Smith & Cooper - so that makes it even more difficult

Thanks

New to this sort of thing, but by default involved now! Are you still missing details about the Smith's Penfold's & Lyon families.

By marriage I am connected to the Lyon Family of Mitcham on the side of Oliver & Phoebe's? grand-daughter. I have looked after his grave for the past 18 years, along with visiting other Lyon & Darke family. We do have a family picture which was taken when my wife was really young at a wedding, she is now 53.

Shot in the dark, are you Sid's daughter - Linda?

If I have got this totally wrong and have offended you in anyway I'm sorry.

Hi, I married Ollie & Vera's daughter Rosemary, who has an older brother Lennard, and can confirm lived in Sibford? road, up from the yard. Currently, my wife is unaware of this find, as my brother in law, by chance came across the string of details in Roots.

Since the death of Ollie a couple of years ago, we have not been back to the Mitcham crem, but will try this summer to go over and get a few pics.

Not sure how best to continue this, as it was a shot in the dark. After my brother in law, mentioned his find last week, and the posted picture of the chap riding towards the yard, was  recognised as the Gas Man! We sat down and worked out who you were likely to be.

Nick the son in law
