Hi guys
Wow
thanks for your responses! I live across the Ditch and we are getting fantastic sunsets tinged with the smoke from the bush fires!
Martha Ellen & Mary Ann Fairy emigrated to Australia in 1913 on the "Makarini" giving false ages!
In 1901 Martha was a carpet sewer & Mary Ann a dressmaker's Assistant.
Until Martha died in 1963 I have no information at all. (have the cert.)
Mary Ann died August 1971 but the friend who arranged the burial obviously didn't know her family.
They lived at 4 Irwell Street St Kilda. Both had their ashes scattered at Springvale Cemetery. I don't expect there is a plaque for either.
Unless they won Lotto I wouldn't expect a Will.
This branch is a bit of a mystery as their mother states she is a widow from 1891 onwards but I cannot find her husband William's death in England.
William's uncle and a heap of cousins emigrated to Melbourne between 1885 and 1889 and I have a suspicion William might have gone with them! Maybe that's why the girls decided to move in 1913.
I couldn't think of anything else bar the Electoral Rolls or a burial notice which might give me any clues as to what they did for 50 odd years!
I'd be most appreciative if anyone could find any gem! Incidentally any other Fair(e)ys winging their way around Melbourne will almost certainly be mine!
Very grateful for your responses
Marlene
