WOODS in 1891 and 1901 for Wiltshire
« on: Sunday 07 January 07 18:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to get details of the family of George Williams WOODS born 1889 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, birth registered in Melksham, Wiltshire.  I'm hoping that the 1891 and 1901 Census may have these details.  His father was a soldier and may have been killed in action in South Africa during the Boer War circa 1900.

Regards,

Robin

Hi Tati

Thanks very much for your quick response.  I'm sure that you have found the correct family.  If, as I suspect, Ellen's first husband was killed in the Boer War the timing of her second marriage would be about right.

You guys are amazing!  Thanks again.

Regards,

Robin

Hi Tati

Thanks again.  I think this can be explained if the father was in the army and Ellen was with him.  He would probably appear in the Census for the regiment.  By a process of elimination it is possible that the father's name was Frederic Reuben WOODS.

Thanks for being so helpful.

Regards,

Robin
