St John Lee is level with Hexham just off the Bye pass A69.  My father was hospitalised there at St Comelias in the 1940s

Ladybird will find that a good find.   It looks like her father or brother was witness?

My apologies for the delay guys, my dear old Mum died and we had her funeral on the 29th Nov. It's taken me a while to catch up with things.

John
Do you think it's possible that this James Newton and Catherine Burdus are the parents of my John?

I have these as notes on my tree programme....

Dear Sylvia
Im not a professional  researcher but I do have a good knowledge of the NE having lived there for 70 years.   St Oswald is Cof E and an early Christian Church stood there since 6 century.   This current is the 3rd on the site the church is at Heavenfield nr Hallington Hall nearest town is Corbridge.   Your folk come from Heworth and Whickham.   Heworth is about 6 miles SE of Newcastle on the Gateshead side.  Whickham is about the same dist. SW if Newcastle Whickham and Corbridge maybe 14 miles apart.   Your assumption is possible.   Certainly the names match up.
