Egan of Ardfert
« on: Tuesday 09 January 07 00:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi looking for Patrick Egan (or Patrick Michael Egan) born about 1882 in Ardfert (we believe) left Ireland for Australia, came to Ipswich, Queensland and married Agnes Mary O'Shea (Shea), my G Grandmother in 1904.  He died in 1915 and my G Grandmother remarried.  I am descended from the 2nd marriage to Albert Baker in 1922.

Have no idea on Patrick's family in Kerry and am hoping someone maybe have some info on him and his family.

Any assistance would be appreciated.  I have other Egan lines in the tree but no evidence of where they originate.

Thanks

Mick Dickson

 Hi Mick,
I can tell you that the surname EGAN is mostly in Co, Mayo.

I have Egan ancestors who emigrated to London in the 1800s-1820s and (frustratingly) put 'Ireland' as their place of birth on most of their census returns. However, there are two possible 1851 census returns for one of these characters (both of whom had married and become 'O'Donnells' and one of whom is likely to be my Mary Egan). Both returns put 'Mayo' down as birthplace.

Hi, not sure if replies to this thread are bouncing to the OP but I have an Eager as a sponsor for a baptism in Ardfert...could it be this rather than Egan?
