Is anyone able to tell me what happened to my gt. gt. uncle Duncan Murdoch McLeod born in Liverpool 1875. I have him on the 1901 census in Connought Hospital, Farnborough. He was a soldier (private). BUt I can't find any trace of him after that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ive looked up to 1910 for marriage/death.The only near match I found was Duncan McLeod in1904  Sept. Rochford 4a 1140 (marriage).Could this be him?
Do you know of any children?
Alternatvely the regiment he was in might have details.Other than that the 1911 census (only 4 years 50 weeks!)..
sorry not of more help.

Thanks for looking.
I don't know if he survived or married therefore don't know if there were any children.
Any ideas ow I can find out which regiment he was in.

immediate thought is national archives , but without a regiment/  regimental number ....they have miles & miles & miles of shelves I,m told.
Anyway one positive thing, you have him in Connaught Hospital. in 1901.Does the  hospital still exist? if so maybe contacting them..
Someone on the Armed Forces Board may be able to help.
Other thanthat if you drop into the chat room  sometime a lot of knowledgeable folkt there too.
Or alternatively on the approriate county board ( a few farnboroughs)....he must be traceable surely  (famous last words).Someone local might be able to tell you if its still there/changed name....where records are..
tracing his death would involve trawling through BDMs .......
hope those ideas bear fruit
