Hi Wendi & harribobs,
Thanks for the replies to my post.
John was born 13.4.1889, he married Frances Burgin in Kensington 2.5.1915.
John's parents were indeed George and Alice.

Wendi, was this info from the 1901 census, or from army records, if from army records, I would have expected Frances Burgin name to be mentioned?

harribobs, why would John's service number change?

Cissellby.
his attestation papers were drawn up before his marriage so his wife will not appear on them, mack

Thanks Annie, I do have those details but unless I can find personal details will not know if he is mine. Have tried to post a thread before but with little success. I did read on an earlier thread that most of the WW1 service papers of soldiers beginning with S were saved (certainly my great grandfather Daniel Sloan's were available). It was his enlistment papers that had John Sloan as NOK with his regiment but I was unable to read it. It may actually have said regiment unknown. That is why I know that John was definately in the services.
