Chirnside 20th February 1786 Banns & Marriages
« on: Friday 12 January 07 11:38 GMT (UK) »
I received the marriage for James Claizy to Helen Ker and the other names on this list include:  William Marshall; Ninion Her?; William Brown; Daniel Ferguson; Charles Anderson to Mary Darling; andrew Wood; James Lorain; Andrew Hailstones; Peter Wood; Peter Smith; James H? to Mary Clinkscale; William temple to Jean Anderson; George Scott to Elizabeth Lorain; Richard Patterson to Isabel Mil?; William Mason to Alison?; James Gray to Elspeth; William Horne to Alison Blair; Robert Reid to Janet?; John Aitchison to Ann Wilson; George Rafs to Catharine/; George Paterson to Eliz Mahag; Alexander Lidgate to Mary Horne; William Robertson to Mary Trotter; John Cameron; John Renton to Marjory ; and Thompson.

The copy is extremely difficult to read so the symbols in the above mean I had difficulty making the entry out.  Thought it might help someone looking for a marriage...will send the dates for anyone looking...

Thanks for this Sharon.

I have LIDGATE's in Chirnside and would appreciate the Marriage and/or Banns dates for Alexander LIDGATE and Mary HORNE.

Many thanks

Thanks Sharon

I'll keep that for reference as I'm only just back to a Robert LIDGATE of the same time-frame, so possibly a brother.

A scanned copy would be great thank you - I'll send you my email address via PM.

Sharon

Thanks

Beckey

Yes, it is Ninewells plus what could be New Mains or similar.

A Rootschatter kindly gave me the following MI's for my LIDGATE family.

Robert 17 Nov 1844 aged 87yrs
Margaret 3 May 1824 aged 63yrs
Elizabeth 10 Dec 1861 aged 69yrs
James 5 Dec 1803 aged 21yrs
Jean 17 March 1798 aged 13yrs

I'm not sure if any other information is recorded or are these the complete entries?

The OPR's seem pretty scarce for 1740/1750/1760's and I've not been able to move back further with this family, so if there are any clues in the MI's that would be great.

Many thanks

I have been going back through the posts looking for Cameron's, Paxton's and Pilkington's from Chirnside and saw this post with "John Cameron" listed, but there isn't bride's name...Can you help with that.  I have a John Cameron that was married to a Jane (Janet) Paxton on 26 Aug 1788 or 03 Sep 1788, from the family search site, but the dates could have been changed when transcribed by accident.  I would appreciate any help.  Thanks.
