1901 census look up please McCall
« on: Friday 12 January 07 22:31 GMT (UK) »
Would someone be kind enough to look on the 1901 census for Arthur mcCall born November 1897 in Liverpool.
Looking for who was in the same household.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks

There are no McCall/Coll called Arthur on the 1901 census in Liverpool or surrounding areas. Have you got any other information no matter how trivial. He could have gone by his second name but the only ones I could see were a David and a William both different families.

There is an Arthur McAuley, aged 3, b Liverpool, pauper, living in the Toxteth Park workhouse.   RG13/3442/40
Not much help with family I'm afraid.

Have found a Mary McAuley, 31, single, general domestic servant, b Liverpool, living in the same workhouse.
She seems a good bet for Arthur's mother; but no proof.

Looking for clues in 1891 there are fewer Mary McCall/McCaul/McColl/McAuley/Macauleys, bc1870, single,  than I would have thought.
The best bet seems:
RG12/2917 21 St James, Road, Abercromby, Liverpool
Mary Macauley, 21, single, domestic servant (cook), b Liverpool, living with a private governess and her four boarders.

All of which doesn't give many clues.

(Looking at 1881 Mary is likely to be the daughter of Neil and Mary Macauley from Ireland originally, but living in Toxteth. They were certainly alive in 1891).

I was hoping that one of the entries might throw up an Arthur as a possible father (or other relation), but no luck so far.
