I have William Elsbury (b c1820 in Hampshire, England) married to Mary Ann (b c1823 in Hampshire, England) living in St Peter Port, Guernsey with their children (all born in St Peter Port) in the 1851 census. Their eldest child is William James T Elsbury born c1841/43). I have been unable to find their marriage either in Hampshire or in St Peter Port and wonder if someone could help with this please or indeed with any information on this family. Unfortunately, I have no idea of Mary Ann's maiden name. Why would William have moved to Guernsey from England. Was this common?
