John Douglas b.1786 in Falkirk

 John married Elizabeth Bell on 21 August 1814 in Falkirk. They had a son William b.1833 in Falkirk. Did they have any other children? Elizabeth was born 15 December 1789. The parents of John were William Douglas and Agnes Jamieson.

Thank you for your prompt reply, As there are two Williams I presume the first-born died young. Do you have any death dates for any of the family? Where do I find death dates before 1855 on-line? I tried to find this family in the 1841 census but could not.

It was common for a couple to name their new child after an older child that died. This is probably the case here.

Pre-1855 deaths can be recorded in MI's, gravestone transcriptions for the area that the Douglases were living in. Some areas have been recorded, some not, so it just depends on your luck.  :) There is also wills and inventories available on ScotlandsPeople.
