Re: inaccurate marriage certificate

I can read it but don't know who the witnesses are. They are Elizabeth Ryan & Jeremiah Samuel, both very common names at the time. I can find neither of them living with Lyons or Henneseys in the census returns.

Its not helped by the fact that I can find no record of Catherine prior to her marriage ( see separate post re lost Henneseys). I have James' birth certificate from 1858 in Swansea, & census details when he lived with his parents in 1861 in Llantrisant & 1871 in Llanishen Cardiff. In 1881 his mother is living in Hillingdon, Middlesex with James' known siblings and another sister born in Rotherham, Yorkshire in 1873. His father is not there but may be the Matthew Lyons boarding in Sevenoaks Kent. James however is nowhere to be found. He was a labourer  in 1891 census & quarryman in 1901. Could he have been in the army in 1881? I don't know but unfortunately the 1881 census is 7  years before his marriage so unlikely to help.
