1851 Glasgow census look up please.

"Newbie" and need help.Tracking our x 3 gfather ,Alexander MacDougall, born Glasgow 1831  (according to 1871-1901 Essex census.)Through very helpful people like yourselves, I recieved  an 1841 census record  for Glasgow  showing a MacDougall family in the St James area, ref.644/1, district 49, pgs. 6&7. This could possibly be "our" family and I would like to explore it further and possibly  find them in 1851 census. One of their 8 children,ALEXANDER, was age 10 at that census  , which would fit his birth year.
Alexander(1831) was in Gosfield Essex in 1871 census, age 40, married ( Fanny), with 2 children ADA- 1861 , EDWIN-1865,born  Gosfield Essex.
Goal--to find as much info as possible about ALEXANDER (1831) and his parents. Census records in Scotland, a birth record for him would be a miracle to be sure!

There were no other McDougall names above or below the last two. This index has no birthplaces, so can't say where these Alexanders were born.
If you have his parents names, I'll have a look and see if they are listed in 1851 index.

There is another Alexander age 22, too old?
and two age 18, too young?

I do not have the names of his parents unfortunately--this is what I would really like to know.

I am looking at the group of 3 in Blythswood 587-- am a tad excited . Are these three people all at the same residence? Why I am asking is that Alexander had an "Aunt mary" born about 1800 or so and this Mary, age 49 could have been her.The Alexander there could be the one I am looking for,right age,  --but then again so are the other 2 about the right age. Man oh man- this gets the blood going.! How can I get more detailed info regarding these names?
I could spend all day here, but unfortunately we have to eat -so must go shop!
