I have found William's death: 21 October 1912, aged 90,  of senile decay. A retired Procurator Fiscal. Strongarbh House, Tobermory. His father was a tailor. His wife, Jane Black, predeceased him. Son William A Sproat was the informant.

Did a wee Google search on "Strongarbh House" and look what came up:

http://www.tobermory.co.uk/strongarbh/

It gives a history of the house (it's now a guesthouse) and mentions your William. :)

Added: There's also what seems to be a painting of William outside his "new" house.

Hi Georgina

It would probably be best to post a separate request for this info on the Yorkshire (West Riding) board http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,44.0.html
