Robert ROBERTS -Marriage Help Req'd

Hi,

Trying to find the marriage of my 2xG Grandfather Robert ROBERTS to Jane ROBERTS (maiden name) .

I belive it would be in the Llanrwst area. The first son was born in 1852 in Llanrwst.

In 1861 census they were at Trefriw at the Old Toll Gate House.

Presumably you have therefore looked at Free BMD eliminating the possibilities especially the marriage in Conway Sep 1847 ref 27 373.

The address you gave in Trefriw for 1861 being the Old Gate house is presumably Turnpike - I was checking to see where she was born.

Please confirm before I wade through the full BMD for a couple of years.

The marriage in Conway 1847 would I think be a bit to early, Robert would only be 15 and Jane 13.

Yes thats the correct address for 1861 census.

I have looked from 1850 to 1852 at Llanrwst and Conway and although I may have missed it as there are plenty of the same name I cannot see an alternative. Have you followed through the family on the incorrect certificate to definitely rule them out. Where actually did you obtain Jane's father's name?
I can see 8 possibles for Jane in 1841 and 5 in 1851.
Alternatively they could of course have married in St Asaph or Holywell or Festiniog or other fairly local places.
You could of course ask the local registrar to have a look in case I have missed it. They are usually pretty good over 2/3 years.

The info I have on Jane Roberts is as follows:-

Jane b.1834 parents Owen Roberts b.1801. Elizabeth Williams b.1810.

1841 census HO107/1403/19 folio 32 pages 21/22 living at Willow St, Trey Dre, Llanrwst.

I see them and in 1851 in Bettws y coed without Jane but what is your evidence that you have the correct Jane?
As mentioned there are several alternatives.

Another thought. With the large gap between David aged 9 in 1861 and then William aged 3 could Jane have had David before the marriage - she would only be 17/18. There is another marriage possibility in Conway in June 1854 ref 11b 937 and of course there could be others as I haven't checked later. The obvious way to eliminate this is David's birth certificate or the later marriage certificate.
