Hi Peter,

Re 1857 11b 719, have checked this one last year again no luck.

I will ring the register office tomorrow re the birth cert for David,have the ref from the BDM Clwyd site.

When I was in Llanrwst last year and spoke with Pat Williams & Pat Rowley we came to the conclusion that Owen & Elizabeth Roberts were the parents of Jane and in 1881 they lived just across the road from Robert & Jane, Owen & Elizabeth liveing at Bryn Trion Cottages and Robert & Jane at Old Tollgate, Llanrwst.

Recieved the birth cert for David this morning (see below), it looks as though they were married.

I am not sure whether this is good or bad news!

I have checked the Owen Roberts family and the children have been baptised as Wesleyans in Llanrwst and it is reasonable to ask the registrar to look for a Wesleyan wedding 1852 or before. This is of course assuming that you have Jane's correct parents and I repeat my question about the proof that you have. What made you reach your 'conclusion'?
 Does the 'incorrect' marriage certificate by any chance have Jane's father as Thomas , farmer or mason?

Hi Peter,

The father's of both Robert & Jane are given as David on the incorect marriage cert .

Marriage took place at Capel Garmon, residence of Robert is Berth-ddu, & Jane as Siam Berwen.

The Wesleyans are now the best bet to find them as I know my paternal grandmother (Lewis Roberts daughter,son of Robert & Jane) was of the Wesleyan faith, also I was brought up that way as well.

When I come down to Llanrwst this year I will visit the Register office in Llandudno.

The reply does not fit with my guesswork.
I had noticed a Jane of similar age daughter of Thomas and Ellinor living in a village Garthgarmon not far away. This is near to Nebo and I noticed that Jane gave Nebo as her birthplace in 1891 which seemed a little strange when she gives Llanrwst the rest of the time. This thought was strengthened with the address on your latest birth certificate of Nant y Rhiw which on brief investigation is an area not a house name but again in the Nebo region.
Now of course Owen and Elizabeth may also be from that part but obviously not  in 1841.
I notice that Owen was also a gardener in later year so that helps your case but I would still be interested to hear why you think he is Jane's father.
If I can look anything else up ( I have an Ancestry subscription ) please repost.

Hi Trevor

On Family Search, there is a marriage for Jane Roberts, b 17 Dec 1832,   married April 1851, died 1900. Parents were Hugh Roberts & Sarah Queens.

Robert Roberts was b 12 June 1822 in Corwen Merioneth, died 1900.
Robert's, father was Lewis Roberts. Mother was not listed.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for this. I dont think it is the one I'm after, my Robert was born in 1832 Llanrwst and Jane in 1834 Llanrwst, Robert died in 1884 and Jane in 1902 both in Llanrwst and are buried in the old churchyard of St Mary's.
