Hi again,
I'm also confused- lol -
now that you mention a Saunders !!!
I am looking for a William Cock born 1805, Cornwall who was the older brother of Ann Cock b 1812 who married William Roberts of Constantine Cornwall in 1837.
A family member has put info on the Mundia site, and I think it is wrong.
Sorry - the father was not William but Walter Cock b 1771 marr Ann Saunders b 1773 and then was also married to Mary ( Unknown). The children  I mentioned before were born of the marriage to Ann Saunders and then Ann b 1812 is again listed under the marriage to Mary (Unknown).
As I said I cant work it out as  there are three entries for child Ann. The first obviously died aged about one year.
I dont know which of the other two are correct.
Now do you see why I am confused ????
I never trust anyone elses research - lol
regards Ro

Ann Cock married William Roberts in Crowan 26/1/1837, both were of that parish

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1951-22655-52862-26?cc=1769414&wc=13751415

Walter Cock married Mary Noble 21/7/1804 also in Crowan, Mary being of Camborne

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1951-22655-50677-31?cc=1769414&wc=13751412

Walter is not noted as a widower, but the register appears not to have been well kept. Entries for 1803 & 1804 are mixed up and look all to be in the same handwriting, that of the curate.

Hi Osprey,

Many thanks for this information. Great to see it all in "Black & White" so to speak !
After reading this it's safe to say that my gr gr  grandmother Ann born 1812 was a child of the marriage to Mary Noble.

regards Ro

Hi from NZ, Roseamry
I believe that my GG Grandad, the illegitimate son of Eliza, was Ann's nephew. If you haven't come across it yet the http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/ website is super helpful for Cornwall info. As far as I can tell Walter Cock 1778/1846 and Mary Noble 1776/1847 married in 1804 and had Mary 1805 Walter 1808/1869 Ann 1811 Susanna 1814 Sarah 1816 Martha 1818 Eliza 1820 William 1822/1822. I have the two Walters' and Mary Snr's death certificates. I didn't know Walter Snr had been widowed. The girls, except Eliza who disappears after 1851, married and the opc Banns and marriages show them. Some large families resulted. Martha may have emigrated too.
Regards

Hi, I'm not sure if this is any help but I'm also an aussie. My G Grandfather came to Australia in 1863 and settled in Castlemaine. He was the son of James Cock and Honour Odgers and he was born in St Gluvias, Penryn in 1834.  James was the son of Edward Bolitho Cock and Ann Saunders.Their children were James b. 1802, Ann b. 1800,William b 1805, another Ann b. 1808 and Elizabeth b.1812
Does this help?
