I recently received a marriage certificate which states the groom's father' s occupation as "Flintsman", I've tried various military sites with no success. The certificate is from 1845, and in the 1841 census of Conwyl, Carmarthen, there might be a match to the John Davies which states he was an East India Company pensioner.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions/advice, perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree, and this occupation relates to something totally different! Thanks in anticipation
