I'm still trying to find out where my Seymour line came from in Wales...so, I concentrated on the area where I have found the most with that surname...GLA

all I know is  Seymour +Wales+ money !! and a grt grt grt granma who says she was from there.

wasn't long after though they moved to Gloucs, Notts, Yorks and finally settled in Lancs, Warwick..
Seymour: Wales, England, Canada
Wilkinson: England
wilkinson-seymour:  anywhere
Gray/Yeates: Ireland
Bonehill: England
Adams: Blakeney, Tipton, B'ham

I though mine came mostly from Denbighshire but when I found great grandparents and further back, they are very much centred on the Berwyn Mountain range - Llangynog, Montgomeryshire in the south and around Llyn Tegid and Gwyddelwern, Merionethshire in the north. Mostly farmers, ag labs. Just one line blacksmiths and slate miners. They just seemed to merge on the Denbighshire/Shropshire borders in the mid 1800s.

Hi Chenwill
As a matter of interest, in 1881 the greatest concentration of Seymours was to the northwest and west of London and west Hampshire followed by Wiltshire.
Have a look at http://www.spatial-literacy.org/UCLnames/default.aspx
Cheers Dave

I guess the answer to your question is to begin by posting requests in RootsChat on the appropriate Welsh county board.   You may strike lucky and find a kind soul who has access to Parish Records or other sources of information.
The next step is to contact the appropriate County Record Office or the National Library of Wales, which holds records for all counties.
The staff in each case I'm sure would be helpful and I don't imagine the search fees would be too extortionate!!
Best of luck, cheers Dave

Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire for my Welsh side. The Joneses (who were smiths) and Mantles all around Llanbadarn Fynydd and Llananno and Llanbister; the Morrises and Woolleys from that little hotspot of Newtown.

RuthieB
Jones, Mantle; Radnorshire
Russell, Stonehouse, Agar; Yorkshire/Durham
Brown, Fair; Durham,
Little, Cumberland
Morris, Woolley, Owens; Montgomeryshire.

How did you arrive in Lampeter, RuthieB?   My father's people came from Carno and Trefeglwys, Montgomeryshire and I ended up in Aberystwyth (not now though)  :)
Cheers Dave
