1861 and 1871 Census Help
« on: Friday 26 January 07 13:11 GMT (UK) »
Would someone be able to help me find my Great Aunt, she was born early 1830 in Kings Lynn, married a Harmon Picker Van Wetzinga in 1858 in Lynn then married again in 1872 in Woolwich a Thomas Dixon I am trying to find her in 1861 and 1871 to find any children but just cannot see her, her Father was a Mariner so it is possible her first Husband was also connected to the sea.
Any information would be much appreciated
Tom

Hi Tom.B
There is this family in 1861
Wm Gagen head mar 55 seaman  ???    S      Norfolk Lynn
Martha   "   wife mar 53                                  Norfolk Ashill?
Elizth Van Wetginga dau mar 29 seamans wife Norfolk Lynn
Elizth Gagen niece u/m 11 scholar                  Norfolk Terrington
Joseph Howard boarder u/m 19 watch maker Norfolk Thetford
John Bowen lodger u/m 59 tide waiter       Herefordshire Hertford?
living at Friars Street, South Lynn, Kings Lynn, Norfolk
Rg9/ 1257
folio 100
page 4

Elizabeth has been transcribed as Elizth Ann Wetginga, but it looks like Elizth Van Wetginga on the census sheet.
Wm and Martha could be Cagen or as transcibed Gagen

Thanks Ricky,
Looks like she was living with her Parents William and Martha Gagen while her Husband was at sea but I still have had no luck finding he in 1871 with various combinations of the surname.
Tom.
