If James Croft was working on the Malone Road and married in Malone Road Church, there is a reasonable chance that this was his church too.

There is a book published on the history of this church, but the title would suggest that it was only established in 1835.

Robb, William, Malone: a history of Malone Presbyterian Church, Belfast and its neighbourhood, 1835-1970 (Belfast, published by authority of the Session and Committee of Malone Presbyterian Church, 1971).

I found this on the University of Ulster website so I'm not sure how readily available it is to the public.

No doubt you will be wanting to follow up on the Millar family in any event.

Malone Presbyterian Church established 1834 and church built 1835/6 according to A History of Congregations in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland 1610-1982.
Therefore, James Croft's baptism must have taken place elsewhere. He could even have moved into Belfast to work.

i think he did move into Belfast to work, I have a feeling that they came from Bangor.  Thanks for that.  I have his wedding certificate, is there any way I can use this to find out where he was born? I know that he worked on the Malone Road in a house that now belongs to  Queens, Malone House. I suppose that Queens may have the history of Malone House somewhere?

Pre-registration Presbyterian marriage certificates often did not include parents but if you are lucky the father might be listed. Usually early marriages give date, bride & groom, witnesses.
