Re: Globe Cemetery & JARVIE family
« Reply #37 on: Wednesday 24 August 11 23:24 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Would anyone be able to photograph tombstones for the Jarvie family?

Most interested in my great great grandparents:
John Jarvie, b 1828 d 1882 and his wife, Mary Gray, I think they are both in
Lair 137-8Ee at GLOBE cemetery.

Mary Jarvie - age 21 - Lair 154CE Globe - b 1862 - died 21 Jan 1884

John Jarvie - (Junior) - Lair CE154 Globe - b 1867 - died May 1903
(Don't know if his wife, Jemima Baxter Jarvie, is buried there - she was alive in 1940 - I think).  They also had children Jemima Jarvie (154CE Globe) and Matthew Jarvie d 1904 also CE154 Globe.

There is also sister Margaret Jarvie - b 1869 d 1898 - lair 107Ee GLOBE.
And twin sisters, Margaret and Jane - born 1866 and died 1866 - I am not sure where they are buried - Sighthill or the GLOBE.

Any help would surely be appreciated.

Thank you,
Laura Holland

Hi all.
I'm a new member on this site and stumbled upon this post. I live local to the 'Globe' cemetery more correctly known, I believe, as 'Camp' cemetery. I have started regularly visiting the cemetery walking and would be happy to help anyone requiring info from headstones, photos  etc where possible. Just ask!
Rgds,
William.

Hi William,

I always get confused over the different burial grounds in Motherwell!
I have a huge list of ancestors lairs who are buried in 'Airbles' and also some in South Dalziel Parish Church.
Is 'The Globe' yet another cemetery or a different name for one of the above?

Thanks :)

Globe is another cemetery

LFHS has the headstones photographed and transcribed for South Dalziel churchyard and Old Manse Road cemetery

Yes indeed it is a different cemetery. Now neglected by North Lanarkshire Council who should hang their heads in shame it is situated in a secluded , peaceful,  albeit eery location which unfortunately is frequented mostly now by louts.
Rgds,
William.

Thanks both,

I used to use the forums on LFHS a lot but then it changed and I couldn't get into it.......however I have just managed to re-register so will wait and see if I am 'approved'!! My grandparents hailed from Motherwell area, so I have plenty of ancestors dotted about :)
