Just had a look at the Sussex Marriage Index and found the following:

Richard Mitchell and Sarah Upton married at Ashburnham on 13 May 1793, he is from Ninfield.

Hannah Mitchel and William Harmer married at Ashburnham 20 April 1822.

There is no Ann Mitchel marrying at Ashburnham until 1772.

Hmm now that's a bit of a problem because I just checked the SMI for Sarah amd Samuel's marriage and did you know that they  married by Archdeaconry of Lewes Marriage Licence on 14 June 1821.

It has Sarah Mitchel and Samuel Furmenger
spinster 25+ Ashburnham and bachelor 26+ Udimore which means she was born around 1796 not 1806.  The only one I could find on familyhistoryonline checks out with the one born at Catsfield on IGI who married Soloman Creasey.

I thought I went through the Ashburnham records back to about 1790 looking for children of Richard and Sarah but I may have missed your Sarah.   :-\ :-\

Meliora,

From your previous reply I have the impression that you have access to the Catsfield PRs.  If that is so, could I ask the favor of a look-up:

Elizabeth Ticehurst b 1804-05.   1851 census gives her birthplace as Catsfield.

thanks,

Jann

Thank you very much for your efforts.

I had not noticed the age difference from my records to the SMI. It does seem possible that Richard and Sarah could be her parents.

It gives me a good point to start from next time I am down there.

Again many thanks
Adrian
