Hi All !!
Just got back from taking the dog for a walk to find all these replies !!   To answer all your questions:

I have got Smiths in Leicestershire as well as these, but I'm not researching them at the moment, they are a completely different branch of my tree.

William and Sarah were both single when they married, I can't read the witnesses names properly, they look like Mathew or Nathan Mare and Sarah Maidenwold ?

William and Sarahs children were:
William Joseph b.17.3.1841  illegitimate son of Sarah
Emily b.14.2.1845      bap. 4.10.1850  St.Olave, Southwark
Sarah b.18.10.1847   bap. 18.10.1850  St.Olave, Southwatk
Thomas b.26.7.1849  bap. 18.10.1850  St.Olave, Southwark
Henry b.26.6.1851     bap. 4.4.1852  St.John Horseleydowns, Bermondsey
Louisa b.26.11.1852  bap. 30.1.1853 St.John Horeseleydowns, Bermondsey
Mary b. 28.8.1854  (my line)

Sarah Licence was born in Brome, Suffolk on 17.2.1822.  I know she had a sister Elizabeth b.1826 and a brother John b.1823,  not found any others yet.

Oh yes, something else I've just found   :-[     William died 9.5.1857.    I don't know where I got this from so I don't know if it's the gospel truth.

That is definitely all the info I have on WILLIAM.  Sorry if I've been leading you on a wild goose chase but I thought you'd all like something to get your teeth into.   ::)

By the way,  what makes you think I'm a man    ???   LOL !!!!!

I'm a widowed lady of a certain age !!  Getting plenty of senior moments !!   ::)

I lost my husband  8 weeks ago to Cancer.    :'(   :'(   You must excuse me if I seem a little vague.

I don't think I'll have time to check on these messages any more today,  some friends are taking me

to the Theatre in Oxford tonight, so I'm just going to get ready, that should take me a couple of

hours at least !

Tati  -  that looks interesting.

Bye for now

Foz - I'm so sorry about your husband.  I too hate cancer  :(

Can anybody check that 1851 census image and suggest an alternative name for William's birthplace? I can't see anything even remotely similar on genuki  :-\

I am just at the index in Ancestry right now and I don't know a lot about British geography, but this is what is indexed for William's birthplace.:

Gattidon, Hertfordshire, England

I did google it and found it's not a place  :(

I am loading the actual census now and will see what I can decipher.
