Info required HASTIE & HUNTER BRYDON, Dumfries
« on: Tuesday 30 January 07 20:33 GMT (UK) »
After struggling with the Hasties in Dumfries, I have now hit another brick wall. I have John Hastie m Ann HUNTER BRYDON in Kirkcudbright on 29/04/1864. Can't find birth or parents details. They had 6 children:-
Frances b 05/09/1864 Kirkpatrickfleming, Dumfries
Margaret b 06/03/1871 Troqueer, Kirkcudbright
William b 02/08/1874 Dalton, Dumfries
Ann b 30/10/1872 Tinwald, Dumfries
Isabel/ Isabella b 04/06/1866 dumfries
Jane Ann b 18/01/1869 Keir, Dumfries

They seem to have moved round several areas in Dumfries but I don't think Hunter Brydon is a typical scottish name.

Any help would be great.

Hi Lesley

Why don't you have a look at their marriage cert. on SP, you have the date as showing on IGI.  It would give you their ages, parents' details etc. This info would let you focus in on finding their family and siblings etc in the censuses and OPRs.

Regards.

Not sure what you mean here. I think maybe you are refering to the search results page.

So, you input your details, then press search, you get a message telling you whether there are any entries meeting your details. You then click on view which gives you the search results page (I UNIT). You then have the option against each entry to view the image for that entry. By clicking view for the relevant entry (5 UNITS) you will then get the image coming up on your screen. This you can save on your system hard drive for future ref. and printing etc.

Regards.

I have now got John Hastie b 1808 Closeburn DUMFRIES & Mary taylor b 1815 Sanqhar. They had children John Jean Mary Jane & William. John Hastie was a farm servant & married Annie Hunter Bryden whose father was a farmer ( did they marry the "help" back then???)

More info about the parents would be great.

Also, I have a copy of Ann's marriage certificate which has her father as John Brydon/ Bryden died prior to the wedding in 1864 & was a farmer but can't trace his birth. Her mother is Jane Mc...... but am unable to read the rest due to the writing.
