The problem with the 1841 census index is that you can search for one person only at a time and it gives only where they are living at that time.  To see the rest of the family, each image has to be opened and read idnividually.  Also ages tend mostly to be rounded down to the nearest 5, although not necessarily for children.

So to search for the Mary Ann's has been for an approximate date - ie 1831 +/- 5 years each way there was the one I gave you and the others were

Birthdate Where living
1826  Gateshead
1829  Gateshead
1831  Gateshead
1833  St Nicholas
1830  Sunderland

The one I gave above was the one living Sunderland.  Which was why I asked you if it was worth checking the locations for the others or were they too far away from where you would expect her to be, bearing in mind
         1831 Born         Norton
         1841  ??
         1851 Living South Bishopwearmouth

I don't know if she would be likely to have been in Gateshead or elsewhere in the middle or if they would be too far away.  If it's likely then I can check for an Eleanor but there are no Eleanor/Ellen living Norton in the 1841 census.

Where did you find Elizabeth from? when was she born

Those two christenings were on the IGI - www.familysearch.org

no Baptism.

Please tell me after all this that you have some solid evidence that Mary Ann is connected to your John ......

Especially since JOhn gives his birthplace as Bishopwearmouth and Mary Ann gives hers as Norton.  Although it does make sense that Both Mary Ann and Elizabeth end up in Bishopwearmouth if the family moved there before John was born.

Unfortunately I don't see a "stray" John in the 1841 census, or one with the proper parents, there is another John of a similar age and also with father John and mother Mary and also born Bishopwearmouth so need to beware of him, but he seems to be John M Robson, his father is bottle maker/packer, a definite other person as I see him in 1861 also.

Can't find your John in 1851 either, which is quite annoying.

The only evidence I have is that Mary Ann and John both had a father who was called John Robson and was a Joiner and and living in Sunderland when they married, the father may have worked at Different Occupations this is the Problem.

I think the problem here is John's age I think he may only have been 11 in 1851 when the family were living in Sunderland and he lied about his age when he married.

he may only have been 11 in 1851 when the family were living in Sunderland

You have the census details for them in 1851?

I'm assuming you are referring to the John, Eleanor, John, Margaret, Armstrong and Thomas living in East Sunderland, but this John was an Engine Wright not a joiner and no Mary Ann mentioned ......

Mary Ann and Elizabeth may Have left Home and part of a Larger Family, finding
Mary Ann
Elizabeth
John in 1841 would certainly help, there may be more children

Could it be this family?

Dumberton Street, Hetton Le Hole, Houghton Le Spring, Durham
Eleanor Robson 30 Y
Robert 13 Y
Mary 9 Y
Elizabeth 8 Y
Douglass 5 Y
John 1 Y
HO107/312/10 7/10

Could it be that the name Douglas was carried on by John in his family after his brother
