Hi Allan

If you believe the family to be C of E then you may find some baptisms/marriages etc. in the online parish registers for that area of Kent

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0bl/

The 1891 census should probably read "Brompton" as the birthplaces for some of the children ;)

Yes you are spot on I have the Marriage cert, I am hoping to contact up to-date family members of the children of Thomas Kent and Mary Ann Robson.

Many thanks
Allan

So you'd know then whether I had the right family in 1851 by the marriage cert - or perhaps you didn't need all this census information .....

This is often the case, especially when a child is named after the father so they want the name to be continued in the family, but then the child dies, the next son is often named the same.

I would try to check the 1841 for the Kents and the 1851 and 1841 for Mary Ann Robson for you if you can confirm the father's names and occupations from the marriage certificate you say you have.  Do I have the right Kents in 1851?

There are two Mary Robsons, same age, in Norton both of them living in Front Street
The first is a female servant, age 13 in the house of William Wilkinson, 60 Butcher and Hannah 60
HO107/1211/3 41/14 All born in County

The other is with family at Saltons Yard, Front Street, Norton - again all born in County
Thos Robson 45 Ag Lab
Mary 40
?? 20 (maybe another Thos)
Ann 15
Mary 13
Hannah 10
Jarvis 6
William 3
HO107/1211/3 43/19

I don't see any Mary Ann's and I know these ages are a little out too.
