1841 Census: Sheridan

Hello

I would be grateful if some kind person could look up the following:

LUKE SHERIDAN - born abt 1809, Co. Monaghan. 

I'm afraid that is all the information I have.  I know he was married in 1843 in Greenock, Scotland, so am hoping that he was still in Ireland in 1841.

Any help much appreciated.

 Government census of the whole island were taken in 1821,1831,1841.1851,1861,1871,1991,1901,1911.
The first four were largely destroyed by fire at the public record office in 1922.

Hello Lisa,

Do you know the names of Luke's children? I may be wrong in my thinking but if you work on the theory that Luke was the only member of the family to go to Scotland it's possible his parents and / or his siblings were still in Ireland. Forget about Luke in the meantime .. look at the names of his children and see if they match any of the names of Sheridans in Monaghan at the time of Griffiths Valuation which took place in the county between 1858-60.

It does not have to be a brick wall if you look at alternative possibilities when you come to the wall.
