Hi China,

It's from my husband's side of the family and believe they came around 1808, his 7x gr-grandfather was the master builder of the following www.sharontemple.ca so there is lots of documentation on the family.

My husband is the 7th generation born in the house where my mil lives, so there are lots of treasures inside the house  :)  It was built c1839, but there was another house built on the land prior to that.

I'm trying to find proof that my family was here before his though  ;D  but of course mine is proving more difficult.

I have a couple of samplers handed down one from 1770 is in poor condition

The other stitched in 1810 is in good condition

Both were made in school by (ancestors) girls named Mary Guy the early one was done when she was 13 the later one when the girl was 9
Cheers

How very interesting Karen, I watched the video. I had never heard of those people, or if I had, I just lumped them in with all the cults. I'm from Montreal and boy, I've seen a few...

Very nice samplers, Guy, I especially like the unusual designs on the 1770.

Neither did I tell I maried my husband  ;D  I have seen reports of the time period and quite a few people thought the leader, David Willson was a little crazy  :-\

I'm sure there are a few in Montreal, didn't one of them clone the first baby a few years ago?

Yeah, riiiight...they tried to claim some such, but couldn't produce any baby. Then there was the bunch that set themselves on fire, and the bunch that kidnapped kids and taught them to hate their parents. There was the Hare Krishnas, they bought an old bowling alley and set out free food for flunking McGill students, and oh yes, the Process. "Hello...I'm from the Process..." The Process' theology went like this: Christ says love your enemy. Christ's greatest enemy is Satan. Therefore...I'll leave the rest for your imagination.

Yep, glad I got out ;D
