Thanks for the info.

In South Africa Schönfeldt is a rare surname so I thought it would be simpler.

The destination port would have been Cape Town. As for port of origin I have no idea but I do know the year of arrival.

More Cemeteries
« Reply #55 on: Saturday 09 February 08 21:43 GMT (UK) »
G' day,
more cemeteries on our homepage ...
www.familienarchiv-papsdorf.de/ozcemeteries.htm
1. Steinthal,
2. Kyankutta,
3. Carrieton,
4. Elong Elong/ NSW
5. Caltowie &
6. Magdala.
Total: 80 cemeteries, 11.124 interred persons, 8.422 photos, 3.858 different surnames.
Due to my third "cemetery trip" that starts in a few hours the speed of uploading will slow down as the number of my postings here will decrease. I'm offline most of the time for the next weeks.
... und tschuess,
Detlef

G'day, friends of the GHIA-project (German Headstones in Australia),
the third 11 weeks "photo safari" in Down Under has come to a not too unsuccessful end:
207 cemeteries with 25.456 photos were taken. They bring the total sum to 340 cemeteries and slitely more than 40.000 photos. Due to lacking volunteers only abt. one fifth of them are online.
The local Barossa newspapers have intruduced our project to the public twice.
Because our homepage
www.familienarchiv-papsdorf.de/ozcemeteries.htm
is somewhat cumbersome we have installed en easier to handle one that links to the above:
 --->>> www.ozcem.net <<<---
Please use only this one.
Cheers and beste Gruesse aus Deutschland,
Detlef

Hi there!
It's a great pleasure you inform you that I just uploaded cemetery No.
### 100 ### (Burra Burra/ S.A.) to the Internet. ;D
Now we got nearly one third of all the visited cemeteries (2006, 2007, 2008) and nearly one forth of all our fotographies (40.000) uploaded.  :P
For more information please visit our website:

Hi Swaggy,

you may be getting a few more queries from Germany soon.

I've flagged up this topic on Ahnenforschung.Org, a german forum we also work with :)

Bilder von Grabsteinen in Australien

maybe you can add an update there :)

Schön Gruß,
Bob

Help Wanted!
For a projected fourth "cemetery trip" urgently any hints, any details, any assistence are requested to trace more or less hidden cemeteries with a significant part of interred persons of german extraction in all Australian federal states. Our homepage
www.ozcem.net
lists more than 340 cemeteries (one third of them worked out), so any "helpful friend" is informed of our state of knowledge.
Our project now ist three years old, two third of more than 22.000 visitors are "true blue" - please support our exciting but very time taking project, thankyou!

Guten Tag,
supplementing our project "German Headstones in Australia" a new subsite to our mainpage
www.ozcem.net
has been created: Rural Churches in Australia, showing photographies of the houses of God.
Starting with Allens Creek & Stockwell, both in S.A., many a more photos (several hundreds) will follow.
Beste Gruesse,
Detlef
