Butler Family decendants
« on: Sunday 29 February 04 13:18 GMT (UK) »
Interested to trace any relations of Richard Elias Butler & Grace Dorothy Jones, of Llandanielfab Anglesey.
Richard was the School Master here. They had 10 Children:
Richard (born 1882), Thomas (1884 ), Edith (1885), Owen (1886), Robert (1888), Oswald (1890), Joseph (1892), Walter (1894), Elsie (1896) & Daisy (1902)

Some of the family are buried in St. Edwen Churchyard, Llanedwen.

I know a few of the sons went on to see service in the Merchant Navy, especially Joseph who was awarded the OBE for service in the North Atlantic Convoys.

I would be very interested to hear from any relatives however distant.

"Helo,  a Croeso i RootsChat ar Ynys Mon!"

I can't help directly, but
Quote
of Llandanielfab Anglesey
is spelt "Llanddaniel Fab" - a double "d" after "Llan" and "Fab" as a seperate word (I'm sure you knew that anyway - but just in case you didn't it might help you with any internet searches).

Have you looked at the amlwch links on this board? - there's quite a bit of general Anglesy stuff on there.

Thanks for that link Trystan ;D
A great site if your ancestors came from Amlwch, and thank you for the spelling correction.

I found only one BUTLER on the 1881 Anglesey Census on the www.amlwchdata.co.uk site:

BUTLER      Andrew
YOB:1851
Address: Secretary
Occupation: Master
Born: Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Census Place: Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales

Found three pages of Grace Jones on there  :)

Thanks Trystan,

I did see the other links you mention, sorry I was not clear enough, just getting used to this service.

The Butler family I am researching all came to Anglesey in the late 1880's from Oxfordshire, so earlier dates are not as interesting to this line. From what Anglesey research I have done the surname Butler is not very common in the Isle.
Thanks again ;D
