Jones family of Ashbourne
« on: Saturday 03 February 07 19:37 GMT (UK) »
Hiya could some one help me sort out this Jones family

William  Jones born 1830 married Hannah Pearson b. 1827
They married in  1848. Both william, Hannah and  the marriage all occured in Ashbourne,  Derbyshire. (St Oswalds)

Now by 1871 Hannah had died and William was on his own with children Living on King St,  Ashbourne.  (As he did all through his marriage)
By 1881 he had remarried to a Sarah (unknown) born abt 1844 Ockbrook, Derbyshire and had 2 more sons William b. abt  1877 and Ralph b. abt 1879 (William and Ralph  were both born in Ripley, Derbyshire)

In 1891 no one can find William And Sarah on  census but young WM  and  Ralph are  living with their married Half sister in Yorkshire.
I presumed from  this that they were dead (Wm and Sarah) then when I was going through my notes I have details from  the 1901 that look like  this

John Jones b. abt 1869 Ashbourne married
Elizabeth Jones b.abt 1863 Ashbourne, Married
William Jones b. 1831 Ashbourne, FATHER

Living Dig street, AShbourne.

I have no idea where John  has sprung from. And If the details of this census are correct and this is my William.....then where is he in 1891???

The only death I've found for William's first wife is in 1868 Ashbourne dist. Could John have been her last child?? but where is he on census. I can't find John on the 1881 census but can anyone find him on 1871 or 1891 to help confirm he is part of this family.

If he was part of my William Jones family then because wife Hannah had died and John was an infant maybe he's with relatives as William  was unable to look after him.

ANy help would be  gratefully accepted on  sorting out this mess of Jones.

Thanks loads in  advance

Angela.

ps should have said that William and Sarah and kids were  living in  Ripley  Derbyshire in  1881

Thanks Cat,

They look very interesting. And fit in with the puzzle before  me.

Sarah dying 1889 would explain why half sister Pamela has Wm and  Ralph living with her in 1901  but where did father  Wm get to in 1891.

If the 1901  is my William and John is his son. Where is he on earlier census??

Thanks a million for all your help. I really appreciate your time and  trouble.

All the best Angela
