Cleobury Mortimer baptism 1877
« on: Monday 05 February 07 18:45 GMT (UK) »
Dear all

I wonder if anyone could look up the baptism of Francis George Signoret in Cleobury Mortimer 1877.

I particularly want to find out who his parents were.

He was with his grandmother Catharine Curry in 1881 and from then on no trace.

Many thanks

Found this on FreeBMD -

Births March Quarter 1877
Francis George Signornet
District: Cleobury M
Volume: 6a
Page: 637

With this information you can request the birth certificate, costing £7, which would give you his parents' names plus Mum's maiden name.

You can order online here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

£7 well spent, I say ;) ;)

Wow! that was a quick response :D

I have just looked at the 1881 image and see that Francis is actually written as Frank, and although I can make out the surname as Signoret, it has been transcribed as Signorth!!!!

While I was looking through some of the images for Cleobury Mortimer I came across this family, who must be connected to Catherine in some way:

RG11/2625 Folio 43 Page 9 - Upper Forge, Cleobury Mortimer

John Curry Head M 76 formerly Ag Labourer born Ireland
Ann Curry Wife M 76 born Ireland
Bridget Curry Dau Unm 35 Dressmaker born Cleobury Salop

Catherine Curry was living in Cleobury Mortimer in the 1891, 1881, 1871 and 1861 census.  She is a Widow in all of them.........trying to find her in the 1851 and 1841 to see who else was living with her.

Her birthplace is shown as County of Mayo, Ireland.

Edit: Can't see Catherine in 51 or 41.  Let me know what the birth certificate says when it arrives, and then I can search again.

Many thanks

Birth Cert gives parents as Francis Signoret and Catherine formerly Curry.

He was Valet for Sir Edward Blount of Mawley Hall
