That is interesting what Ambly has seen there
The enlistment seems to be for the Army and the number is different from the first entry we saw.
Also this secnd record does not appear on the ww2 nominal roll site.
Maybe he joined the army first and then the airforce.
He was very young I notice.
especially to be a married man if' Joan'  is wife
If Joan is mother then we have the wrong man.
Don't know about the student.
Better check it out!!

Well Riley gave me this reply regarding the student Eric William Avery ........... !

Quote
The Probate for Eric William AVERY gives his parents as Graham Arthur and Joyce Marion Avery, farmers of Grassmere. Eric died aged 13. His MI gives only his name and date of death

So as Riley says - this leads us back to the RAAF airman !! ::)

So I'm trying to have a go at sorting out the NAA ..... I'll come screaming back - tearing my hair out in a bit !!  ;D ;D

Hi Annie

Just my two bob's worth  :)

There are two records for Eric because either he enlisted twice ?army and then airforce
or
enlisted twice in airforce with two service numbers.

Similar scenario with a family member in the army - I couldn't understand why she had two service numbers.  I purchased her service record to find she had enlisted twice . Perhaps it was before her overseas service.  I noticed after I purchased the record that the details on the internet site only had one service number.

Cheers
cando

I just found on NAA ......... what Ambly found hours ago ! ............. ( it takes me a while !!  :P )

passenger list search - record of Mrs Joan Gertrude Avery and Miss Christine Avery arriving in Sydney on board the Orbito on 23rd July 1946 from Liverpool !!

Looks like this is one to keep on the "back burner" ..... looks promising - don't you think ??  :) :)

Thanks Cando .... if I can just figure out how to work this NAA .... !!  :P
