« on: Wednesday 07 February 07 14:18 GMT (UK) »
My great grandfather Thomas Smith born 1846/7 (fther Thomas mthr Elizabeth) all born Cullercoats northumberland is shown on 1871 census as 24 and a widow.  I know he remarried a Sarah Johnson/Johnstone but have been trying to find his first marriage and who too.  Can anyone help me please????  Jessy

www.freebmd.rootsweb.com shows about 10 Thomas Smith marriages in Tynemouth district between 1865-1871 so very difficult to find which would be the right one from that.  You would need to search through parish registers and hope not too many had fathers also called Thomas.  Cullercoats St.Pauls records of marriages from 1864 onwards are held by Northumberland Collection Service  - you could contact them at collections[at]woodhorn.org.uk
