Photo collage -- any good programmes?
« on: Wednesday 07 February 07 19:43 GMT (UK) »
Anyone know of a programme (preferably free to download) that I can use to make collages of photos?

I am trying to make a small booklet of one of Hubby's families and I would like to do a collage of photos for each family but I don't know where to start with it to be honest.

Can anyone suggest how to do it with your basic programs or do I need something specialised?

Hi Carol  ;D

No programs except the usual graphics one - it's really working out on paper what you want to do, getting your images together, opening up a new file and playing.

Ask away anyway - Denn and I will help.

A couple of examples from my website:

They're both what is called 'hard edged' but use layers and irregular cutting out.

Hello there stranger - was going to PM you but you beat me to it

Which is the basic program you use?

Pete has loads but haven't put any on my computer yet as wasn't too sure which to use

Carol

PS love the ones you have done and would need to make them able to fit an A4 sheet in a booklet

Hiya Carol  :)

The two threads that have been mentioned go into detail so won't repeat here. I'll PM/e-mail you and we can be more specific.

Progs - Photoshop/PaintshopPro and probably The Gimp would be fine - anything that allows you to do cutting and selecting and copying and enlarging and has layers  :)
