Travel from England to Pembrokeshire - another Winter query
« on: Thursday 08 February 07 00:23 GMT (UK) »
With regards to my other thread about the Winter girls, it looks like Trish found the oldest boy, Edward, born in Chew Stoke. (eta link for the other thread: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,212513.0.html )

I've looked at maps to see where everything is, and Im' wondering if William and Sarah Winter would've passed through Chew Stoke on their way to Wales?  I'm not familiar with travel in the 1800s, but I'm guessing they would've gone by boat/ship from some port in Somerset/Gloucester over to Tenby, rather than travel overland.  I don't know where William and Sarah married yet either, so it's hard to say if they were just travelling or if they relocated to Gloucestershire and then relocated again to Wales later.

I do know that several of Sarah's family ended up in Bristol.
