2 Para IIWW - Military Records
« on: Saturday 10 February 07 00:24 GMT (UK) »
My grandad Edward Hughes (22526625) served with 2 Para  from 15th July 1943 to 24th july 1946 when he was relegated to the Territorial Army Reserve, he later re-enlisted into the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (01.09.1950 to 28.02.1952). All this is from a letter to my edward in 1980 from the MOD. It details his Military Conduct as very Good and lists the medals he was entitled too.

Is it possible to find more about Edward's Military service?
Also is it possible to locate/replace the medals he earned?

Hi Rae67 and a Warm Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

Is it possible to find more about Edward's Military service?

If you are next of kin, or can obtain their permission you could apply for his service record via this link

Also is it possible to locate/replace the medals he earned?

I think it very much depends upon what happened to them.  This link explains more

Good luck
Wendi  :)

Thanks Wendi,

That's very useful, my mother is next of Kin so I'll apply for his service records on her behalf.
