Hi Oldbear,
Yes as far as i can make out my family on the paternal side came from Strathmiglo in Scotland origionally. My Uncle name is Rosslyn Crawford Bell and as far as i have been told the name Rosslyn comes from The Earl Of Rosslyn somehow. I can only accurately go back as far as my great grandfather who lived in Bangor in Northern Ireland and died in 1926. His name was Francis Bell.
I cant be sure when the first Mavor went to Northern Ireland or Ireland as it was before 1921. i suspect it was around 1850 onwards,
Thanks for getting in touch,

Regards Gerald

Hi,
If it helps at all I have Mavors in the distant past in my family tree - my GG Grandmother Mary Syme married John Mavor in 1893 in Cupar.  Mary had 1 son who was 1 when she married John - & there's nothing to indicate that he is the biological father - so I don't have any direct blood relationship to the Mavor family.

From what I can see Johns parents were George Mavor & Margaret Black who married in 1894 in Kinghorn.

Not sure if that helps to add to your research!

Here's the birth certificate, but I am not quite sure what the mother's surname is.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
