WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Hav'nt you been busy???????????????????????
Thank you so much for all your help, i really appreciate it.
Now to answer some questions:  On the birth certificate of his daughter Rhoda in 1908 whilst living in Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich William gives his occupation as  SHOEMAKER!!!!!!  Which adds up with some of your findings.

I have just checked the free BMD site regarding Williams Birth and there is a William John b sep Qtr 1861 Norwich and not one in 1865. Which once again goes with your findings!!!!! The previous information on Williams age came from the IGI where it lists many details of the children and himself and his wife.

I think you could be onto something regarding the 1891 census in Heigham, also the 1871 could i possibly have full details on that one??
Also the details regaring Edward in 1861 seem to tally as well.

Could i also just ask regarding Williams new asumed birth date could you possible see if he now turns up in the 1901 census??? somewhere???

There is nothing else to say you are SUPER SUPERSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to send you a PM

A Million Thank you's

Kindest Regards
Jackie

Hi Jackie - a pleasure to help. I've seen your PM and no problem, will be in touch.

I'd recommend getting the oldest child's Birth Cert to see if William is a Shopkeeper or a Shoemaker in the mid 1890s as opposed to the much later births Cert details ....

Births Jun 1894

Daines  Muriel Katherin A     Norwich Vol 4b Page 174

William and Caroline are also indexed ...

1901: I did my searches with a +/- 5 years on Williams understood 1864 DoB, so all candidates should have been exhausted - maybe a fresh pair of eyes would help ?

« Reply #14 on: Monday 03 September 07 12:16 BST (UK) »
Hi Jackie,

I am searching for info on my gg. grandfather convict John DAINES, middle name possibly William born abt 1811-1813, occupation 'turner'.

He was tried at Norfolk in 1832 and sent to Sydney in the same year.  He married in Jane NAPIER in 1845 and named his children Bridget, Jane, John William, Alice, Robert Bruce, James Henry.

Have you heard of him???

Many thanks,
Margaret Stevens

Hi Margaret,

Yes i have heard of him and i did come across various references to him, online and up the record office,  but i was never able to tie him into the family i was researching, which was for a friend of mine.
Unfortunatley i did'nt keep the references once i gave my research back to my friend.

Kindest Regards

Hi,

Not sure about this one :-\ transcribed as DAVES but looking at the AVIS family at the top of the page and the SHEEN right below him I think it might say DANES,

RG13/1105  f.25  p.11   Farnborough
Malplaquet Barracks

William DA?ES  39  Soldiers 2nd Royal Lancashire Reserves Bn   Norfolk Norwich

enumerated as single but all the soldiers are, they all seem to be in their 30's and 40's so I'm not sure what to make of that either ???

What do you think?

Regards
Daisy
