Sorry ... not very good at precise dates ... but tidied up the photo and retrieved  a bit  I think ...    Here are two versions for you.
. On closer inspection I think  maybe she is possibly pregnant ...and he is not as old as he first seems . He may well  be older than she is ... but could possibly be an older husband ... I suppose if women were widowed young they may well have married for security  especially if they had a family .
 Just a thought ! I have a 6x4 version if you require it as these are only very small if printed

ps ... It's possible that someone at some time has touched up the ladies eyes .. I dodged the area in very gradual stages and then burned any existing detail back ...

Thank you all for your wonderful restorations, I really am spoilt for choice on which one to use...

I think the dates have given me some possiblites on who the pictures are of, on one of the restorations it could be that the man does look younger than first thought?

If the lady is who i think she is, she had her first child in 1877, so maybe this was a picture to mark the occasion....
