Witnesses on Marriage Certificate

Hi Tees,

You have helped  a lot, I thought I had come to the end of the line with available records once again.

I only know the qtr of the persons marriage that I want to compare the signature with...
So I will have to order his marriage certificate from the GRO to get the name of the Church and date.....is that right.

I am so grateful for the way everyone on RC shares their knowledge.

Oh, I understand now...go with the quarter and year--let's pray the CRO would be very helpful with your request!

Do not order the cert from the GRO until you talk with the CRO.

That is my suggestion.

Hi Tees,

Rang the CRO at Truro, and downloaded the request form on-line, and posted it off to-day.

The young lady at Truro CRO was very understanding, and sooo helpful.

I gave the GRO qtr and year and chose Parish Church at St Just Penwith as the marriage place. Hopefully he married a local lady in that church, as did the rest of the family.
If not, it will cost £21.00 for one hours search over the Penzance area, cheap really when I think of how much I have spent so far.....fingers crossed I have chosen the right Mathew Eddy marriage but there weren't that many

Seeing your point about the value of your money--let's hope you do not have to shell more than it is necessary!
