certainly looks like a farm to me, 1861 census has 38 people living there who's occupations are all farm related

Hi Joe

Thanks for the info, you are helping a lot.John Fortune (the child)  was born c1850@Prestonkirk,died aged 3 in 854 of fever buried Prestonkirk churchyard.John Fortune is not on IGI or SP,probably because he was born outside marriage he was not registered,I guess. His mother Ann Fortune is my GGGGran.John is on 1851 Freecen died before 1861 census.I received info of where he died as Jagg and was wondering where or what Jagg was.
Your help is much appreciated as I didnt have the 1861 census info on the Fortunes or the marriage of Agnes. It would be great to find out who his father was as I do not think it was Robert Sinclair any ideas where I could get this info.   Fiona

it is all about presumption, when it comes to naming john's father

presuming that she went with a lad from bridge end

presuming his name was john

presuming he was in the farm trade

best bet would be john hately

john...age 30...farm lab...son of jean

no sign of yer man in the 1861 Scottish census
