Giddings entertainers
« on: Monday 12 February 07 23:06 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I have a family that is proving very hard to trace.
Wm Giddings born 1857 Gornals staffs,
married Emily Pickering born1855 Birmingham warwicks
They have two sons
William Clark  Giddings b 1878 Kidderminster (in a cattle market)
and Frederick b 1880 Evesham Warwicks.

on the 1881 census they are in a caravan  at the Fox and Goose yard, redditch worcs. At that time wm clark Giddings is down as wm j giddings.

the family are musicians and actors. - we have photos of them in costume (Wm Clarke and Elsie)
Its wc giddings I'm really interested in.
he married my great aunt Elsie stevenson in 1909 Q4 Leics.
they had 3 girls.
Elsie took her own life in 1937 aged 47 years, registered as in Brook Cottage, Tansley, Derbyshire.
The 3 girls were brought up in orphanages.

In 1919 we have a letter from W C Giddings to my gran (Elsie's sister), written from palestine saying he was with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force.

I've tried following
each parent and both sons through the census returns and on the LDS site, with no joy at all. They were always on the move.

Any help with this lot would be greatfully appreciated, not only by me, but also W C Giddings granddaughter (my second cousin) who I have met up with through all our research!
Thanks in anticipation

Hi Annie
I had looked at that, but decide to hold onto my pennies for a bit to see if I was sure about him. But as you say, you get 6 or so for the price of one!
Thanks for looking for me.
I  have a post about him on the armed forces thread.
thanks again
