Lost Glenville's
« on: Tuesday 23 November 04 00:14 GMT (UK) »
Is there any sign of my Glenville ancesters in Guernsey? My g-grandmother Ann Glenville was born in Mevagissy, Cornwall but her parents  Thomas Glenville and Mary nee Warren are believed to have moved to Guernsey some time later. My g-grandmother's two younger sisters were born in Guernsey. Louisa in 1824 and Elizabeth before 31st Mar 1826 as she was baptised 31st Mar 1826 in Guernsey. She married Henry Wyatt 3rd April 1851 in Guernsey. She died 29/5/1886 at Christchurch New Zealand aged 60. She and Henry Wyatt immigrated between 1851 and 1854 to New Zealand. Wehave never been able to find the marriage cert. for Ann Glenville(sometimes spelt Glanville) and my g-grandfather Edmund Bogg. Did they marry in Guernsey sometime after 1836?

Hello Wendy

Thanks for the info from 1871 census. That is indeed my family! Yes Ann's birthplace is wrong! Should be Mevagissy! Have recently foundthat Edmund had a brother Thomas born Sheerness Kent 1809. Can you find him anywhere? Rumour had it that he was in St. Peter Port Guernsey.

Very sweet of you to send me the info

Love Frances

Hi Frances

Does that rumour give you any other info; like if he married or had kids?
Just asking as I found a Thomas born about 1807 England living in S tHelier Jersey on boht the 71 and the 81  Could this be him he was transcribed though as Biggs?

Sorry to be so long in replying but I have been ill.

Yes they are some of my Boggs! Ann and EdmundBogg are supposed to have married in Guernsey some time before 1806 which is when Edmund was born. I do have this census but it is the Guernsey connnection I am searching for!

Thanks anyway!

Love Frances
