Any further info would be appreciated, in lookups, registers etc. I have searched and found little information, but I need something solid to go further.

Hi there

From Ann's DC you learn her parents names and also the fact that apparently she had been married once before as had her mother!  The parents names given by the informant lead you to www.FamilySearch.org  and the IGI entry for Ann's birth and then a search on www.ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk will allow you to view the original OPR entries for the marriage of her parents in Wigtown and the birth/christening entry for Ann.

The marriage - 05/11/1816 MCKENZIE BRYCE CATHRINE MCKISSOCK/FR538 M Portpatrick /WIGTOWN 896/ 0020 0261

Ann's birth - 05/06/1817 MACKENZIE ANN BRICE MACKENZIE/CATHRINE MCKISSOCK FR247 F Portpatrick /WIGTOWN 896/ 0010 0239

You're fortunate in that Brice has survived to appear on the 1841 census in Portpatrick.  You can view a digital image of the original page also on www.ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk .  This is the index entry for that.  (The census indicates Ann had a younger sister!)

1841 MCKENZIE BRICE M 72 PORTPATRICK /WIGTOWN 896/00 003/00 001

I hope some of this helps!!

Best wishes
Jean

It does help lots thankyou. I was aware of Brice and Cathrine (I've also seen Bryce and Bruce), and have managed to go a fair bit back in the McKissock side. I thought it best to see if anyone else could verify, because I took a wrong turn on the other side of the tree and messed it all up.

Thanks again
:D
