Geography Lesson / Question
« on: Tuesday 13 February 07 17:10 GMT (UK) »
My maternal gg grandparents are in the 1851 census HO/107/1577 f.113 pg. 20 for Battersea, Surrey. They are also in the 1861 census.

My gg grandmother is listed as from Hants, Kimpton in 1851. My gg grandfather is shown from the same location in the 1861 census.

Can anyone tell me where Hants, Kimpton is located?

Thanks.

Regards,

yn9man

strange, wasnt stretching my screen - seemed to cope by breaking it up over 2 lines, but without truncating it as a shortcut ...

YN9Man - try google - that area is fascinating overall - not far from Stonehenge ...

My maternal gg grandparents are in the 1851 census...in Battersea, Surrey...My gg grandmother is listed as from Hants, Kimpton in 1851....

Can anyone tell me where Hants, Kimpton is located?

I guess your question derives from the basis, could they have moved from one area to the other?

My grandparents made the same move. The (thn new) railways made this trip quite easy.

Hi Meles -

Not sure how the grandparents got / moved around. They certainly seemed to have the ability to move around. I would have to assume via the rails but until I find her family I will never know.

I am very interested in learning more about her family. I have only heard stories and am attempting to validate ... that is if/when or once I locate / find her birth info and parents

As an aside I really enjoyed reading your poem Feeding The Ducks. Brought back memories of when I would take my Mom and my two nieces to the park many many years ago.

Again, thanks for sharing your poem with us.

Regards,

yn9man

Hi bearkat -

Your message popped up as I was attempting to send mine. Though I have only searched briefly today I haven't found any on line resources either.

Will post on Rootschat if / when I am successful.
