Ballymena 1914-1918
« on: Wednesday 14 February 07 10:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi.
An excellent site for family history buffs researching Ballymena and area WW1 casualties.
Ballymena 1914-1918
Carved In Stone.
www.freewebs.com/snake43/
This site is well worth a visit, as it gives more than a name and the date the person died, it gives a bit of their family background, parents names and addresses, etc. It contains a lot of information from the period.
All the services are represented, most local regiments, and regiments from over the Irish sea. If they came from Ballymena or the Ballymena area they should be in there.
Regards,
Dixie

Hi.
Just tried the link myself there now and got into it OK. Try putting " Ballymena 1914-1918" into your search box and see if that finds it for you. I have it in the favourites and have no problems with it.  Hope you get into it, it's well worth a visit. The full page ad at the start is easy to remove by clicking on the top right hand corner. Good luck.

Hi.
I have been in and out of it a couple of times since I put my last posting on.
I went into different parts of the site and did not have a problem.
The posting I put on yesterday for Belfast war dead, has a link to this site, I  wonder if it would  work any better from their link.
I wonder if anyone else is finding problems.
Afraid the working of computers is a total mystery to me, so I cannot explain what the problem is. Keep us informed if you have any success.
Hope you get it worked out.
Regards,
Dixie

Hi Aghadowey.
Any luck ?.
I'm starting to regret posting this web address in case it is causing problems for people.
I have went into it from the favourites, did a tour of the site, with no problem. I then logged into Rootschat and tried it from the link on my posting, it was OK as well.
Is anyone else having this problem when they enter this site ?.
Regards,
Dixie

Hi Dixie it's not just aghadowey that is having problems with it.
aghadowey , I do not think it's your computer.(it maybe because you have a good security set up- or your old hard drive  can't cope with how much is going on in this site, from the animation to whatever else - so it freezes)
I have also  just tried the link (  And I have  a lot of blocks /security on my computer) - This is what I am getting when I press on the link  is a free web page and an animation of a woman talking, blocked, bars and nothing to do with Ballymena

Kind Regards :)

Hi folks.
Sorry about the diffs you're having. I put a message on the "Technical help forum", and there are a few replies. The replies to date have all said they were able to use the site OK. Check out the replies.
I felt guilty about recommending this site, then you folks having the problems you're having, I thought I'd ask the experts. As I said, when it cames to computers I can just about cover the basics.
Hope the new computer does the trick, Aghadowey. If you have family connections to Ballymena or the area, there is a good chance you will pick up a connection. A big lot of the names mentioned on this forum are on it, even people that have left the area.
Regards, Dixie
